Nio® offers medical professionals a flexible and cost effective solution for a multitude of medical imaging applications, including PACS, CT, MRI, angiography... Barco's Nio® line is available in 2MP, 3MP and 5MP resolutions.

    Nio® display systems are available in 2MP, 3MP and 5MP configuratons Their high-brightness, combined with image crispness and excellent viewing angle, makes Nio® display stations an ideal solution for a multitude of medical applications and environments.

    All Nio® systems have a solid and handy tilt and swivel base to provide users with optimum viewing comfort in portrait as well as landscape mode. Users are free to use their Nio® system as a portrait or landscape viewing station, thanks to


    the embedded rotator function.

    The slim and energy-efficient Nio® display systems come in single- or dual-head configurations.

    Long-term image confidence

    Thanks to the display's high luminance, combined with Backlight Output Stabilization (BLOS®), Nio® is the ideal solution for a wide range of medical viewing applications. BLOS® technology guarantees fast power-up and continuously stabilizes the luminance output of the LCD's backlight. This significantly improves the overall optical efficiency of all Nio® display systems and provides long-term image confidence.

    Optional MediCal® Pro QA software

    For advanced QA functionality, operators can rely on Barco's optional MediCal® Pro software. Medical® Pro works with a customized sensor for accurate measurements on LCDs and offers an advanced solution to maintain image conformance and consistency. The package allows users to carry out customized QA checks, combining a variety of visual checks and measurements, perform automated calibration and consult their system's history.

    DICOM-compliant out of the box

    Nio® display systems are fully DICOM-compliant out of the box, thus providing a truly plug and play solution.

    For local finetuning, Nio® features NioWatch®, a user-friendly software tool, allowing users to optimize their display system in accordance with DICOM part 14 in a few easy steps. As a result, Nio® flat panel displays are perceptually linearized, ensuring an accurate image representation at all times.

    When combined with MediCal® Administrator, NioWatch® offers a networking functionality for display fleet management purposes.

    High-speed image rendering







    Nio® display systems are driven by high-speed BarcoMed® display controllers. The 8-bit display controllers produce 256 simultaneous shades of gray out of a palette of 1024. In addition, the dual-head imaging boards, featuring Barco's proprietary AURA technology, offer ultra-fast image loading and realistic image representation. All Nio® display controllers are compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
